Year 3 (Mrs Banks)

Hello Year 3,

The end of the school year is almost upon us and such a strange one it has been! Yesterday we went to lowther castle. It is such a lovely place. My children love the playground - it is so nice that we are finally allowed to go back.

I hope you have all had an enjoyable week.

Stay safe, keep smiling and have a lovely summer.

See you in September!

Miss Alexander.

w/c 13 July 2020

Hi Year 3,

This week I took myself out of my comfort zone and went on a huge walk in the Lake District, around Ennerdale Water. It was very beautiful and some bit were very difficult. I had to climb over some really tricky bit and was a bit scared at times. My friends encouraged me and helped me when I got scared. It was 8.6 miles to walk all around the lake. I am looking forward to next weeks walk now. I think I am off to Buttermere. This is the last week before the holidays. Enjoy the week, stay safe in the holidays and we will see you all back safe and sound in September.

Hi all,

Well, this should have been your last week in year 3, with next week being transition week. I'm sure this feel very strange for you but September should, hopefully, be much better.

I'm afraid I have forgotten to take any pictures, for you, this week so I'll just tell you some things I have been doing. I have baked two lots of cupcakes, coffee and chocolate; I've been out walking, I've done some housework (it wasn't very exciting); I have read some more of Harry Potter and have completed numerous jigsaws with my children. What have you all been doing?

Stat safe.

Miss Alexander.

Hi Year 3,

I have been in school this week with the Key worker children so decided I would get out for a bit of a walk and explore today. I went to the Lake District. I visited St Mary's Church in Threlkeld, then the Neolithic stone circle at Castlerigg, before going to Derwent water at Keswick. It was very windy but it didn't rain. I had a lovely slow walk and enjoyed the fresh air.

I hope you are all well and staying safe. Enjoy your week and have a go at this weeks activities.

Hello Year 3,

We have been busy with a few different things this week. We started off by enjoying the sunshine! We've been out walking, playing in the garden, splashing in the paddling pool and watering the plants at the allotment. On Friday, we just got home from a walk when the storm came! We couldn't believe how big the hail stones were and what a racket they made on the windows. Then came the thunder, it was all quite exciting!

I have also finished reading the fourth Harry Potter book and started the fifth. I've never read these ones before so I am quite pleased with myself. What have you read this week?

I hope you have all had a lovely week.

Miss Alexander.

Hi Year 3,

This week I have been in school quite a bit. On my day off we went to Talkin Tarn and had a lovely walk around the tarn and had a picnic. Molly was able to spend the afternoon with her cousins which was lovely. We climbed some trees which had fallen over and enjoyed the sunshine. Morris loved being able to have a paddle and a swim in the tarn and was a bit naughty and chased some ducks.

I saw some of you in school this week and it was lovely to catch up with you. I couldn't believe how much you had grown. I was really happy to see them healthy and staying safe.

Have a go at this weeks tasks. If you are finding any of them tricky try not to worry about it too much as we will be able to look at it when we are back in school.

Stay safe,

Ms Banks

Hello Year 3,

As it was the longest day on Saturday, we decided to get up at 3:15 and walk up a big hill, next to our house, to watch the sunrise. Unfortunately, it was rather misty at the top so we couldn't see much. However, the views coming back down were lovely. I was nice and snug, back in my bed, by 6:15.

What have you done doing this week? I was in school on friday.

Keep busy

Miss Alexander

Hi Year 3,

This week we have been busy doing some jobs around the house and I have also been in school. We had a day at Allonby Beach, our happy place. We love walking down the beach, paddling in the water, collecting shells and having a picnic. We always go for an icecream at Twentymans before we go home. Delicious! Morris loved playing in the water too.

Do you all like the beach or do you have a happy place?

Ms Banks.

Hello Year 3

How are you all this week? This weekend we went camping. Just in our back garden though. It was my daughters first time sleeping in a tent. I wonder how many of you lot like camping? Have you been on one of the suggested walks yet? I wish you could tell me.

Look after yourselves.

Miss Alexander

Hi Year 3,

I hope you have had a good week and enjoyed all the things you have been doing. I have been finding and following new footpaths through the woods near my house with Morris. He found a new beck to play in and loved getting wet. He also found fox poo and rolled in it so was very smelly and had to have a bath. He doesn't like the bath so wasn't very happy with me. This week I am going to upcycle an old wooden table to use in the garden, do some school work and hopefully get out on some more walks or rides on my bike.

Stay safe,

Ms Banks

Hi Year 3

I hope you are all well. We started the week by making the most of the beautiful weather. Then I was back in school this week as well. It was nice to have a little normality. Although, school was very different to what we are used to.

Stay safe everyone.

Miss Alexander

Hi Year 3,

It was lovely to talk to you all this week and find out all the things you have been up to. It was great to hear your voices and to find out you are all ok and staying safe.

This week I have been in school a little bit and then learning how to ride a bicycle again. I had forgotten how difficult it is. I had to put my bike together when it arrived so Molly and I had to follow the instructions carefully. I have practised on the street outside my house and in the park. I was very wobbly to start off with but am much steadier now. There is a photo of my bike below it just needs to basket on the front to finish it off.

The work I am going to put on the website is changing a little bit. You will still have an English unit for a two week block, 2 maths tasks, a reading task and spelling task each week. There will also be a topic which should last you for two weeks. The first one is all about light and shadows so I hope the weather improves again. There are 10 activities in the topic. You do not need to print the activities out to complete them. Some are there to give you information and some will need to be printed. Read them first and then think about what you need to print.

I have tried to include some experiments and some fun into the topic. I hope you enjoy it.

Stay safe, Ms Banks

Hello Year 3,

I hope you have all had a lovely half term and enjoyed some of this lovely weather! We went for a walk around Grasmere this week. It was beautiful! We splashed in the water and had a picnic, which attracted the ducks.

Enjoy the last couple of days of sunshine before the rain comes!

Miss Alexander.

Hi Year 3,

I can't quiet believe it is the 1st June. Welcome back after half term I hope you enjoyed the break. I was in school with the hub last week it was nice to see the children. I am looking forward to speaking to you all this week. Apart from school we have continued having walks for our daily exercise. This week we went to Holme Head Bay and then walked towards Dalston. It was beautiful. You have your top ten activities, maths and English this week. Enjoy the sunshine too.

Hi Year 3,

Happy Half Term.

I hope you are all staying safe and well. It has been about birthdays in our house this week too. It was my mum's birthday so we made her a birthday cake. It was delicious but there is a little bit left for today. The weather is improving so hopefully we will be able to get out for a walk later on today.

Ms Banks

Hi Year 3, I hope you are all well. Earlier this week, my little boy celebrated his 4th birthday so we have spent most of the week eating cake and playing games. We have also enjoyed some time in the garden and at Granny’s allotment.

Keep busy everyone.

Miss Alexander

As it is half term you only have the top ten activities this week.

Hi Year 3,

I hope you are all well and staying safe. I have had a busy week at home doing some housekeeping jobs like gardening and sorting through and tidying out the cupboards. Morris has had some nice walks in the park and by the river too. We enjoyed the sunshine at the start of the week and even with suncream on I still caught the sun. Stay safe and enjoy this weeks activities and the next chapter of our story.

Hello Year 3

How are you all? This week we have made some VE Day bunting and you can see the pictures below. I have been trying to learn how to sketch and shade and I have also ridden a bike for the first time in at least 5 years. I must admit, I really haven’t ridden very far - but we all have to start somewhere. What have you achieved this week?

Keep smiling

Miss Alexander.

Hi Year 3,

This week we have been thinking about VE Day in my house. We sorted through some old photos of my granddad and though about all the places he went to during World War 2. He used to tell me lots of stories. We also made some bunting and decorated the house. We made some cakes and had afternoon tea too.

I hope you are all staying safe.

Hi Year 3

I hope everyone is still well. This week we have made a lots of art things. From the pictures you can see we have been busy making; swirly, hanging things (not quite sure if the proper name?), caterpillars on leaves, rockets and we’ve finally made a rainbow for our window. We have also baked delicious coffee buns and cheese scones.

What have you been up to?

Missing you all.

Miss Alexander.

Hi Year 3,

It has been a lovely, sunny week and I have spent a lot of it in the garden. I have been going for my daily walk and the flowers in the park are beautiful. Molly has been teaching me some tik tok dances this week so I have some new moves. I hope you are all keeping active and staying safe.

Hi Year 3,

It was lovely speaking to some of you on Friday, I am so pleased you are all well. This week I have finally finished the book I started reading just before we went into lockdown, all 633 pages of it. I also decided to start reading Harry Potter from the beginning! What have you been reading?

Keep busy, stay safe and do something to help a grown up at home.

Week commencing 20.4.20

Hi Year 3,

I hope you are all staying safe and are keeping well. I have had a busy week as I was in school with the children for a couple of days. We had fun outside as the weather is so lovely. At home I have been decorating and have a lovely little loo now. It was dark purple and is now white. Mrs Kirkpatrick sends her love and is missing you all. On Friday afternoon Miss Alexander and I will be phoning you all to say hello and see how you are all getting on.

We have put some more activities on the website not just the top ten activities to help you keep occupied. We will put the answers on next week so you can mark your work.

Take care and stay safe.

Ms Banks

Hi Year 3, I hope you are all staying safe! This week I have spent a lot of time playing in the garden. I wish you could all tell me what you’ve been doing.

Hi Year 3,

I have been talking to Mrs Kirkpatrick and she asked me to tell you how much she is missing you all. She hopes you are staying safe and had a lovely Easter.

I hope you enjoyed your Easter weekend too. I did and even got two Easter eggs (I have eaten one already!). I have been using my daily exercise to walk Morris and he is enjoying his walks but doesn't like that he has to stay on his lead and can't go an play with other dogs because we are social distancing when we are out. I have also been doing some more crochet and made a scrubs bear for my friend who works for the NHS. She hasn't got it yet I will drop it on her doorstep when I go for my walk with Morris today. Stay safe and have a go at some of the top ten activities to keep you occupied.

Ms Banks

Hi Year 3, hope everyone is well. This week we have been doing a lot of Easter activities. We’ve made bunting, decorated eggs and rolled them down a hill and we’ve made chocolate crispy cakes.  I hope the Easter bunny managed to get to everyone’s house. Stay safe and keep busy and hopefully see you all soon.

Miss Alexander

Hi Year 3, I hope everyone is well. I’m really missing you all now and I would love to know what you’ve all been doing.
This week, in my house, we’ve had a Julia Donaldson themed week. We’ve read lots of her stories and collected sticks to make our own Stickman. On Friday we had a complete change and dressed up as pirates. We made our own map and found some treasure.

Keep safe and busy everyone.
Miss Alexander.

Hello Year 3,

I have been missing you all and I know some of you are missing your friends and school. I know some of you have been doing the Top Ten activities and I hope you are enjoying them and they are helping to keep you busy. I have had a busy week. It was my birthday this week and my children made me a birthday cake. It is delicious. We couldn't have a party so will do that when we are all back together. I have also been practising my crochet skills and made a Baby Yoda toy.

I hope you enjoy this weeks Top Ten activities and they keep you occupied this week. Stay safe and take care of each other. Remember to be kind.

Ms Banks

Hi year 3, this week I’ve been keeping myself busy by baking my very first apple crumble. It was delicious, if I do say so myself! What have you been up to?
Miss Alexander.

Hi Year 3, I have been busy too. I have been getting some paint onto my summer house and building my bench so I can enjoy the sunshine. My job this week is to finish the purple on the summer house and paint the fences. Your top ten activities on here. Stay Safe.

Ms Banks

Hi Year 3,

First of all I am missing you all and our classroom is very quiet. I have been in school this week looking after the children who have been in school.
