Not a Box. The Reception children have had an amazing week inventing and creating with boxes.
A huge box arrived on Monday, it had a book inside, Mrs Graham read Not a Box to us.
We thought about what we would make if we had a box.
We wrote down our ideas.
We turned our boxes into different things.
We chose our own resources.
Aeroplanes.
Houses.
Campervans.
We used the glue dispenser.
Castles.
We used sellotape and scissors.
We followed our own ideas.
We kept trying when it got tricky.

We each chose the type of card we wanted to make for our Dads, or other loved ones.
Keeping cool in the hot sunny weather.
We used lengths of material to make tents to shade under.
We played with lots of different water toys and activities.
We loved fishing for ping pong balls in the water.
We shared books and stories in shady spots.

We learned to sing and sign the Rainbow song, which we performed during our Coronation celebrations.

Tadpoles.
Mrs Graham moved the pond weed so that we could see the tadpoles.
We were able to carefully catch some tadpoles to look at.
The tadpoles were very fast and very wriggly.
Coronation Sandwiches. This week we have been trying to make the best Coronation Sandwich.
Cheese, cucumber, jam, donuts, mushrooms and pepperoni were our ideas.
We thought jam, cheese, ham, chicken and tomato.
How about cheese, chicken nuggets, jam, or ham?
Following a map to get round the Outdoor Classroom.
We started at the hill.
We had to find the steps.
We went down the steps.
Then we found the garden where we had planted our plants last time.
Our maps took us round the shrubs.
We walked on the noisy stones.
Our map took us to the trees.
The trees were very, very tall.
Next we had to go back up the steps.
We found the lavender bush.
The lavender smelt lovely.
We had to find the tyres next.
We went past the tyres to the old tree stump.
Our Map ended at the old tree stump.
We looked for bugs.
Visiting the Outdoor Classroom again, this time we went on a Bear Hunt!

We chose which type of card we wanted to make for our families.
Our second visit to the outdoor classroom.
We trimmed the lavender bush.
The lavender smelt lovely, it made our hands smell nice.
We looked for worms.
We dug holes and planted bedding plants.

The pond had lots of frogspawn in it, but we didn't see any frogs.
We looked at the different types of leaves on the trees.
The stones made a loud crunchy noise when we walked on them.
We had to tick off on our sheet when we found different things.
We helped each other.
We found some really long and very wriggly worms.
We collected sticks and leaves.
We made potions in the outdoor kitchen.
We looked for fish in the pond.
We looked in the soil for worms.
There were lots of places for insects and bugs to live.
We found spiders and slugs.
We were very careful near the pond, we could see the frogspawn.
There were some woodlice living in the old tree stump.

Holi, a festival of colour! We found out about Holi then celebrated by throwing colourful powder paint.
World Book Day! We each came to school dressed as an adjective, and enjoyed lots of books, read by different people.
