Welcome To Our School
I am very proud of our school. Every member of the school community makes a huge contribution to our success as a center of learning. Our wonderful teachers and teaching assistants, the support staff and of course the brilliant children who make our school such a wonderful place to learn and work. We also rely on the engagement of our families to help and support our efforts.
Our new school vision and strategic aims set out everything we want for our school community as we go forward, but our core aims of CONFIDENCE, OPPORTUNITIES & POTENTIAL are what guide us on a day to day basis.
Our 2022 OFSTED inspection found Brook Street to be a ‘good’ school in every aspect. OFSTED believe the school to be a very inclusive school, where 22 different home languages are spoken and all groups of pupils achieve well. We are proud of the fact that the children at our school, with their many cultures, faiths and languages, embody British values such as acceptance, mutual respect and individual freedom.
As we move into a new decade, with a new inspection framework and a renewed focus on each school's individual curriculum, we have taken the opportunity to re-focus our curriculum on our pupils and what they need. Extensive consultation with a wide range of stakeholders has identified some core elements we want to include alongside the statutory elements such as the National Curriculum. A focus on Carlisle and Cumbria, a commitment to the outdoors and the opportunity for children to enjoy and excel at a wide range of different subjects are all important parts of what we aim to deliver for our children. The partnership between parents, the school and its community is essential in this if every child is to achieve their best.
Brook Street School is a ‘You Can Do It’ school where we value and celebrate: getting along, being organised, being persistent and being confident. Our children behave extremely well, whether in school or out, and we consistently receive compliments from the general public wherever we go as a school.
Whatever your interest in our school, be it a prospective parent, a fellow educator, part of the inspectorate or another agency looking to engage with us, I am confident you will find Brook Street to be a friendly, dedicated, professional and happy school.
