The Mini police is a fun and innovative police engagement programme aimed at children aged 9-11 years old. The objective is to provide a fun and interactive way to introduce children to a positive experience of policing and to get them involved in the local community.
The wider aims include building trust with communities, promoting responsible citizenship, a sense of social responsibility, and improving relationships between the police and young people.
This term we appointed new officers at Brook Street. The children wrote letters expressing reasons why they wanted this role and the Headteacher appointed our newest members.
PSCO Lambert worked with the team on firework safety and anti-social behaviour. Our officers then delivered assemblies to each class. Following this, they promoted fire safety by putting up posters around the school. Cumbria Police also used our artwork and messages on their social media pages.
Officers have also entered the yearly Cumbria Police Christmas card competition. We are awaiting the outcome to see if any of our cards have been selected for print, to be distributed around the local area.
Look out for more information in the New Year when we will be working together on a community based project.
