Reception (Miss Dixon)

Hi all !!

Hope you have all had a lovely half term ! How lovely has this weather been! Hope you all had your sun cream on. I had mine on so I didn’t burn in the sun.

I have been busy painting my fence this week. It’s hard work. I had to go to the shops to get some special fence paint, our paint in the classroom won’t work🙈.

I have had lots of cuddles off Rupert (my rabbit) and his birthday is this week ! He will be two! I wonder who could make him a birthday card and do their best writing inside ? I would love to see some fantastic writing.

Challenge: I want you all to write and tell me what you did this half term. Start your sentence like this, “Over half term I...” remember to write in full sentences, sound out words and remember your finger spaces, capital letters for the start of a sentence and full stops. I’m excited to read them all.

I have added two phonics videos for you to complete a recap and also two maths videos to complete. In addition to this, adults, please can you ask your child to do as much writing as possible ( child needs to be enjoying it and purposeful. Please don’t force your child as we want them to love to write not have to write). So children, please can you do some writing for me! It could be a birthday card for Rupert, a letter about what you have been doing or any exciting things that may have happened, a shopping list, labels for toy boxes etc.

Hope you all have a good week and make the most of this weather as we all know, it never lasts long in Cumbria.

Missing you all lots !

From Miss Dixon.

Activities for this week- HALF TERM

Phonics phase 2 and phase 3 flashcards

Still image for this video
Hi ! Please watch this video every day to help your child recognise and be confident with phase 2 and phase 3 sounds ! We have covered all these sounds in class so they should know them. As your child becomes more confident, mute the volume so they can independently say the sounds.

Phase 2 and Phase 3 flashcards

Still image for this video
This is a more challenging version of phase 2 and 3 flashcards as the children cannot see me pronouncing the sounds and have to use their own phonics knowledge to pronounce the sounds.

To challenge children further, turn volume off.

I am modelling writing numbers. Get your child to write the numbers too and to say the numbers as I am writing them. This will help with their number recognition and number formation.
