Reception (Miss Watson)

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Still image for this video

Hello everyone,

What have you been up too this week? It has been a wet week with me but I have enjoyed some dog walks and Ivy has really loved jumping up and down in puddles!

This week's story is a bedtime story. As we will be back at school next week I have been going to bed on time and waking up at the same time as what I would be if I was coming to school. Do you think you could try that this week too?

See you soon.

Miss Watson

What is your favourite bedtime story?

Hello again!

It really isn't long before we can all meet properly and start our Reception journey together. Have you been practising to wash and dry your hands on your own? This is something we will be doing lots and lots when we are in school. Remember that you can sing Happy Birthday twice or count to 20 as you wash your hands :)

I hope you enjoy this week's story. It is another one of my favourites. What is your favourite colour? Which colours does the Owl see in the story?

Speak to you soon

Hi everyone!

I am so sorry for the late post this week but here it is!

My little girl Ivy turned 2 yesterday so I have had a very busy week! She has lots of new toys to play with too - what is your favourite toy? I can't wait to find out so much about each and every one of you soon!

Have a lovely week in the sunshine!

Hi everyone,

This week I have uploaded a story that will make you smile and laugh. The title is 'The Dinky Donkey' and it is one of my all time favourite stories to read! Do you have a favourite story? I can't wait to read stories to you when we can get back into our new classroom - have you watched the video of the classroom tour yet? Which area will you explore first?

I hope you are all enjoying the holidays and keeping safe :)

Hi Reception.

I was back at school this week working in the hub, it has been so lovely to get back and see some of you! I am super excited to see more of you when we return to school as part of the 'green bubble' for the last two weeks! I will be busy spending some time getting our classroom ready this week with Miss Dixon and Miss Clark.

In Phonics we are looking at 'ow' and 'oi.' In Maths we are focusing on 2D shape and addition.

At the weekend we took Ivy to the Zoo for the first time! We had a great day out even though it rained! The giraffe's and rhino's were Ivy's favourite! With that being said, this week's story and challenge are all linked to a story about the Zoo!

I hope you enjoy your home learning tasks this week.

Talk for Writing - continue to work through the activities linked to the story 'Max's Jungle Adventures'

Hello everyone!

How are we all this week?

I have been at school working in the hub this week. It has been lovely to see some of you again and be back in our classroom, even though it looks a little different! I will be back in for 2 days next week too!

This week in Phonics we are looking at the alphabet and the digraphs 'or' and 'ur.' In Maths we will be halving different amounts of objects and also learning how to partition 2 digit numbers which is brand new!

This week's creative challenge is a little bit different. I would like you to watch the story 'We are all different' and complete one of the poem templates. Think about what makes you special. What do you look like? What do you like to eat? What do you like to do for fun?

I hope you enjoy this week's activities.

Keep safe and keep busy.

Hi Reception.

How are you all this week? After a wet start to the week the sun has decided to come out and I have been enjoying lots of time in the garden with Ivy. We have been making mud pies in the mud kitchen and jumping really high on the trampoline!

Did any of you make a healthy vegetable soup? I chose to make a tomato soup and I have uploaded pictures for you to see. Ivy and I really enjoyed eating some of it for our dinner one day last week.

This week in Phonics we are focussing on the digraphs 'oo' and 'ar.' In Maths we are looking at ordering numbers correctly and working out the correct ladybird doubles. I have uploaded a power point to help refresh your memories about how doubles work.

This week's creative challenge is linked to my story this week - The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I would like you to have a go at making your very own fruit salad with a grown up, once it is made you can enjoy it as a healthy snack with your family :) Ivy loves fruit so we are going to give this a go this week too! I will post photo's next week for you to see! I think I might add some apple juice into mine!

I hope you enjoy your new home learning activities this week.

If you don't have a printer you could draw the ladybirds and use the colours from around your home to complete each double problem. CHALLENGE - can you work out the answers to double 6, 7 and 8?

Ordering numbers - cut and stick the numbers into the correct order. Use the Youtube counting video to help you :) If you don't have a printer you could ask a grown up to write the numbers for you and then you can write the missing numbers in the correct place. Remember to form your numbers correctly.

Hi Reception.

It was so lovely chatting to some of you on Friday - you guys have been working so hard on your school work whilst also spending quality time with your grown ups. Well done to all of you and keep up the amazing work :)

This week our neighbours very kindly gave Ivy their trampoline which their own children have outgrown. Ivy has been on it everyday since we got it! She especially loves throwing the balls on and off - repeatedly!

In Phonics this week we are revisiting the trigraph 'igh' and the digraph 'oa.' In Maths we are focussing on number recognition and solving one more and one less word problems using objects from around your house. I have filmed a video showing you how some of the activities can be completed to give you an idea.

For your creative challenge this week I would like you and your grown up to find a recipe for vegetable soup and have a go at making it together! You could help your grown up by collecting the ingredients and helping them to chop or peel the vegetables safely and with full concentration. I am going to complete this challenge too and I will show you pictures of my vegetable soup next week!

Speak to you soon.

I hope you have all had a lovely half term and have enjoyed this hot weather - I certainly have!

For Maths this week I have a subtraction activity and a measuring activity for you to complete - please watch my video and take a look at my photographs for more information :) In phonics we are revisiting two digraphs that we have already learnt - 'ai' and 'ee.'

Next week I will be working at the hub in school for the first time so I am excited about that! I will also be phoning you all on Friday morning for a little chat and catch up - I look forward to speaking to you then.

Have a great week.

Could you try something new this week? I always offer Ivy vegetables and she actually tried some sweetcorn last week and loved it!

I have also uploaded some photo's of what I have been up too this week. What do you think of my brownies? They really were delicious!

I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato By Lauren Child

Hi Reception!

I hope you have all had a busy week and have enjoyed working through the activities that I set you last week. This week I have set some more activities for you based on ordering numbers, counting backwards, recapping everything we have learnt in phase 4 and there is also a creative task linked to the story Stickman too! I hope you enjoy them as well as a brand new set of top 10 activities.

As I said last week, Ivy's Dad and I plucked up the courage to give our dog, Tilly a well needed groom! It took nearly 3 hours and it was a lot of hard work but we kept on going and never gave up! I have attached some photo's below! Can you see all of the fur that is on the floor? Our kitchen was very messy that day!

Keep working hard and having fun.

CREATIVE / STORY TASK - Listen to the story of Stick man and collect as many sticks as you can whilst out on your daily walk. Are some longer or shorter than others? Can you order them from shortest to longest? Choose one of your sticks to be stick man - maybe you could decorate him? Use the remaining sticks to create a maze for Stickman to work this way through! I have attached a photo to give you some ideas :)

I used chalk, don't worry if you don't have any as writing the numbers onto pieces of paper would work well too. Firstly, practise jumping along your hopscotch starting from 10, and counting backwards to 0. Then, find a ball or small object and throw it onto a number, say the number out loud and starting from 10, move along your hopscotch, remembering to say the number each time until you reach the number you threw your item onto!

Top 10 activities for Reception week beginning 11th May

Hi Reception!

I hope you are all ok and keeping busy! Did any of you celebrate VE day? I made some yummy flapjacks, it was the first time I had ever made them and they were delicious! It's safe to say that they didn't last very long!

This week we have had some lovely sunny weather so we decided to take a walk to our local Bluebell Wood. The bluebells looked so beautiful and Tilly had a lovely paddle in the river! Ivy loves the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and thought that we might see some bears in the woods but luckily we didn't!

This week Ivy's Dad and I are going to attempt to groom Tilly. She is a very furry dog and usually needs to be clipped every 2 months. As her hair is so long we decided to order some clippers! I am quite nervous as it is something we have never done before so I am hoping it all goes ok! I will show you a picture once we are done!

I have uploaded lots of new activities for you to work your way through this week including creative, maths, phonics and stories!

Ivy loves being outside so we have made sure we go for a walk every morning after our breakfast! This week she has enjoyed banana porridge, weetabix, avocado on toast and lots of fruit including blueberries and raspberries for breakfast! What have you had for breakfast this week?

Below are some new activities and videos for you to work your way through. I hope you are enjoying all of the videos I have uploaded so far. Filming myself seemed strange to begin with but I am getting used to it now!
