Can you believe we only have two more weeks until the Summer holidays?
I hope you have all had a lovely week and managed to complete some home learning tasks too! This week we are looking at repeating patterns and we will be learning how to count in multiples of 2. In Phonics we will be focussing on reading words which contain some of those tricky trigraphs! Don't worry if you find anything tricky - watch the videos and join in with me :)
I am really looking forward to spending some time in school with some of you on Wednesday and Thursday. I know Miss Clark is super excited too! We can't wait to see you and hear about all of the fun things that you have been up too! During the day we will complete phonics, maths, singing, dancing, circle time and story activities and spend lots of time exploring the resources in Year 1 :) We will also spend lots of time outside in the yard too. Please remember to bring your own water bottle.
Have a great week everyone.
The Worrysaurus - The perfect book to help every little Worrysaurus let go of their fears and feel happy in the moment. This may be particularly helpful if you or your child feel apprehensive towards returning to school or being based in a new classroom. Don't worry - myself and Miss Clark will be there all day to support your child and make each day as fun and as normal as we can :)
My pea plants have really started to grow :) How many pea pods can you see?
The Pants Song - Can you describe the patterns that you can see?
My repeating pattern examples using objects found around my house :) Can you describe each pattern to a grown up?
Book, brick, book, brick, book, brick, ?
Can you name the shapes and describe the pattern?
I was back at school this week working in the hub, it has been so lovely to get back and see some of you! I am super excited to see more of you when we return to school as part of the 'green bubble' for the last two weeks! I will be busy spending some time getting our classroom ready this week with Miss Dixon and Miss Clark.
In Phonics we are looking at 'ow' and 'oi.' In Maths we are focusing on 2D shape and addition.
At the weekend we took Ivy to the Zoo for the first time! We had a great day out even though it rained! The giraffe's and rhino's were Ivy's favourite! With that being said, this week's story and challenge are all linked to a story about the Zoo!
I hope you enjoy your home learning tasks this week.
What has Miss Watson been up too this week?
Ivy had a great first day back at nursery!

Wednesday phonics - or, ur, ow, oi sorting cards. Look at each picture and say what it is out loud. Which of the four digraphs can you hear? Can you sort the pictures into the correct digraph? This activity can be completed verbally if you don't have a printer.
I have been at school working in the hub this week. It has been lovely to see some of you again and be back in our classroom, even though it looks a little different! I will be back in for 2 days next week too!
This week in Phonics we are looking at the alphabet and the digraphs 'or' and 'ur.' In Maths we will be halving different amounts of objects and also learning how to partition 2 digit numbers which is brand new!
This week's creative challenge is a little bit different. I would like you to watch the story 'We are all different' and complete one of the poem templates. Think about what makes you special. What do you look like? What do you like to eat? What do you like to do for fun?

How are you all this week? After a wet start to the week the sun has decided to come out and I have been enjoying lots of time in the garden with Ivy. We have been making mud pies in the mud kitchen and jumping really high on the trampoline!
Did any of you make a healthy vegetable soup? I chose to make a tomato soup and I have uploaded pictures for you to see. Ivy and I really enjoyed eating some of it for our dinner one day last week.
This week in Phonics we are focussing on the digraphs 'oo' and 'ar.' In Maths we are looking at ordering numbers correctly and working out the correct ladybird doubles. I have uploaded a power point to help refresh your memories about how doubles work.
This week's creative challenge is linked to my story this week - The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I would like you to have a go at making your very own fruit salad with a grown up, once it is made you can enjoy it as a healthy snack with your family :) Ivy loves fruit so we are going to give this a go this week too! I will post photo's next week for you to see! I think I might add some apple juice into mine!
I hope you enjoy your new home learning activities this week.

Monday phonics - oo
Tuesday phonics - can you read and search for the 'oo' words with me?
Wednesday phonics - ar
Thursday phonics - writing ar words - choose a sheet that is most appropriate to your ability within phonics. If you don't have a printer you could use paper :)
Ladybird Doubles - use the ladybird powerpoint to help you work out each double. Each side must be equal or have the same amount of dots. If you don't have a printer you could draw the ladybirds and use the colours from around your home to complete each double problem. CHALLENGE - can you work out the answers to double 6, 7 and 8?
Ordering numbers - cut and stick the numbers into the correct order. Use the Youtube counting video to help you :) If you don't have a printer you could ask a grown up to write the numbers for you and then you can write the missing numbers in the correct place. Remember to form your numbers correctly.

It was so lovely chatting to some of you on Friday - you guys have been working so hard on your school work whilst also spending quality time with your grown ups. Well done to all of you and keep up the amazing work :)
This week our neighbours very kindly gave Ivy their trampoline which their own children have outgrown. Ivy has been on it everyday since we got it! She especially loves throwing the balls on and off - repeatedly!
In Phonics this week we are revisiting the trigraph 'igh' and the digraph 'oa.' In Maths we are focussing on number recognition and solving one more and one less word problems using objects from around your house. I have filmed a video showing you how some of the activities can be completed to give you an idea.
For your creative challenge this week I would like you and your grown up to find a recipe for vegetable soup and have a go at making it together! You could help your grown up by collecting the ingredients and helping them to chop or peel the vegetables safely and with full concentration. I am going to complete this challenge too and I will show you pictures of my vegetable soup next week!
I hope you have all had a lovely half term and have enjoyed this hot weather - I certainly have!
For Maths this week I have a subtraction activity and a measuring activity for you to complete - please watch my video and take a look at my photographs for more information :) In phonics we are revisiting two digraphs that we have already learnt - 'ai' and 'ee.'
Next week I will be working at the hub in school for the first time so I am excited about that! I will also be phoning you all on Friday morning for a little chat and catch up - I look forward to speaking to you then.
Have a great week.

Height task - choose three items from around your house and use small objects (I used blocks) to measure how tall each item is. Record the number of blocks for each item on paper. Look at your three numbers, can you place your objects in order from shortest to tallest? Use your number knowledge too to help you by placing the numbers in order from smallest to largest. Take a look at my examples below to help you :)
Can you believe that we haven't seen each other for 2 months now? I really do miss you all and hope that you are all having fun at home.
This week I have attached a new set of top 10 activities for you and I have also uploaded a story for you to watch. Which new foods did Lola try? Did you try any new foods last week? Could you try something new this week? I always offer Ivy vegetables and she actually tried some sweetcorn last week and loved it!

I hope you have all had a busy week and have enjoyed working through the activities that I set you last week. This week I have set some more activities for you based on ordering numbers, counting backwards, recapping everything we have learnt in phase 4 and there is also a creative task linked to the story Stickman too! I hope you enjoy them as well as a brand new set of top 10 activities.
As I said last week, Ivy's Dad and I plucked up the courage to give our dog, Tilly a well needed groom! It took nearly 3 hours and it was a lot of hard work but we kept on going and never gave up! I have attached some photo's below! Can you see all of the fur that is on the floor? Our kitchen was very messy that day!
CREATIVE / STORY TASK - Listen to the story of Stick man and collect as many sticks as you can whilst out on your daily walk. Are some longer or shorter than others? Can you order them from shortest to longest? Choose one of your sticks to be stick man - maybe you could decorate him? Use the remaining sticks to create a maze for Stickman to work this way through! I have attached a photo to give you some ideas :)
MONDAY PHONICS - WORD HUNT
Picture and caption matching - can you complete 1 sheet?
Tricky word hopscotch - write out the words and hop along and say each tricky word as you do so. Refer back to my tricky word video if you find it tricky to remember the words. I have attached a letter formation document which explains how to form each letter correctly.
Watch my video and create your own version of snakes and ladders - phonics style!
Counting backwards hopscotch activity
Refer back to the number formation support I have provided for you over the past few weeks and draw out your own version of hopscotch, starting at 10 and ending at 0, you can use my photo to help you. I used chalk, don't worry if you don't have any as writing the numbers onto pieces of paper would work well too. Firstly, practise jumping along your hopscotch starting from 10, and counting backwards to 0. Then, find a ball or small object and throw it onto a number, say the number out loud and starting from 10, move along your hopscotch, remembering to say the number each time until you reach the number you threw your item onto!
Counting backwards hopscotch
Can you count backwards from 10 to a given number?
Can you count backwards with me?
My phone rang at the end of this video so that explains why it suddenly cuts off and I don't say bye to you all at the end :)

I hope you are all ok and keeping busy! Did any of you celebrate VE day? I made some yummy flapjacks, it was the first time I had ever made them and they were delicious! It's safe to say that they didn't last very long!
This week we have had some lovely sunny weather so we decided to take a walk to our local Bluebell Wood. The bluebells looked so beautiful and Tilly had a lovely paddle in the river! Ivy loves the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and thought that we might see some bears in the woods but luckily we didn't!
This week Ivy's Dad and I are going to attempt to groom Tilly. She is a very furry dog and usually needs to be clipped every 2 months. As her hair is so long we decided to order some clippers! I am quite nervous as it is something we have never done before so I am hoping it all goes ok! I will show you a picture once we are done!
